Reveille // Review and Photos: Foo Fighters at the Target Center
It was here that Jessy Greene and keyboardist Rami Jaffee were really given room to shine. With more stripped-down instrumentation, the Foo worked into a nice acoustic set that included "Skin and Bones" and "Marigold," featuring a hair-raising solo by Greene. By the time Grohl introduced Jessy to the audience, it was a full-on lovefest for the talented local musician. "It took us 14 years, but we finally got some Minneapolis in the band," beamed Grohl. "In fact, we had never even played an arena until she joined the band! We had never won a Grammy before, but now that Jessy is in the band, you know what? We won two fucking Grammys!" The whole room erupted in cheers and chants of "Jessy, Jessy"... [Read full article]

Reveille // Q&A: Jessy Greene
As the Twin Cities' most versatile and established rock and roll violinist, Jessy Greene has led an extroardinary life. In Minneapolis, she fronts her own electro-pop solo project and plays with everyone from alt.country sweethearts Romantica to hip-hop poet Dessa. On a national level, she has toured and collaborated with high-profile groups like Golden Smog, the Jayhawks and Wilco. Simply put, her career has been nothing short of a phenomenon, so it was no surprise to her Minneapolitan cheerleaders when we learned that she was starting a new chapter in her career by heading out on tour with the Foo Fighters.... About
Jessy Greene, a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter, started playing violin as a four-year old prodigy from Sheffield, Massachusetts who spent her formative years studying as a classical Suzuki violinist.
Incorporating years of violin training and a degree in ethnomusicology, Greene's dark string arrangements and melancholy vocals generate a unique blend of organic sonic elements.
Jessy's most recent solo record, A Demon and Her Lovers, chronicles her journey around the world as a woman whose life was saved by music. As a teenage runaway bound for L.A., Greene left her small hometown and was accepted into UCLA on the merit of her audition.
Since then, having lived on both coasts, as well as the Midwest, she's toured internationally as a musician, collaborating with world-class talent. In addition to her solo albums, Jessy has played violin with an array of diverse artists such as Wilco, Atmosphere, Soul Asylum, Dessa of Doomtree, The Jayhawks, P.O.S, and Romantica.
Greene recently wrapped up a stunning year-and-a-half on the road with the Foo Fighters as their touring violin and cello player. Shortly thereafter, Greene played in a 10-piece string section with P!NK on the American Music Award's. Greene was then asked to tour as P!NK's only string player on her 2009 Fun House Tour.
